To our book sale community –
We want to thank you all for making this such a successful book sale. The money we raise in support of the Media Upper Providence Free Library provides for so many programs that benefit not only the library, but the surrounding community as well.
Every sale starts with the donations, and if it weren’t for the generous donations from our wider community, we would have nothing to sell. Collection bins will be out again starting May 3rd. Keep ‘em coming!
Because of our dedicated book sorters who have the ability to turn chaos into organization, no one needs to dig through unorganized boxes to find their treasured reads. Our sorters run the gamut from retired teachers and librarians to web designers, statisticians, nurses, engineers, administrators and clerks. They take each and every one of your treasured donations and carefully curate our collection so that you get a well-organized book sale.
Thank you to all the volunteers who show up during the book sale to keep traffic flowing, take money, straighten the shelves, and answer questions. Without you there would be no book sale.
Thank you to the Penncrest students who let us take advantage of their need for community service hours to help us with clean-up. We start every sale with empty shelves, and we rely on the Penncrest students to help us remove all the unsold books. It is quite a monumental task!
Thank you, too, to the Board of Trustees who show up at every sale to lend a hand and who have graciously given us dedicated space in the “Sellar”; to the library staff who are always helpful; to those of you who feed the sale day volunteers, to the Delaware County FOP and The Media Property Group who allow us to use their parking lots, and to the Media Police who make sure our loading zone stays clear.
The Renée B. Fisher Foundation, Inc. provides us with a hefty grant that allows teachers from Title I schools in Delaware County to fill their classroom libraries. Over the two annual sales, thousands of your donated books are now in classrooms helping students who wouldn’t otherwise have them.
We want to thank the merchants who participated in our second “Bookmarked in Media” promotion in helping to make this a Media-wide event. We hope that all of you took advantage of their giveaways and discounts, and will continue to patronize those businesses.
Mark your calendars for the next sale which will be October 18-20, 2025.
Questions, concerns, complements (we like those), contact us via email (librarysalemupl@gmail.com).
Thank you!!!
